The Evil Hotdog

By PJ and Seamus

Illustrated by Seamus and PJ

A man was walking in the city when a hot dog salesman showed up. He said “Hot dogs! Fresh hot dogs!” It smelled like burning ham. “Delicious hot dogs!” And then the man bought the hot dog. But the hot dog tasted like garbage! So they said “What?! This is false advertising!” As the man shook his fist and yelled at the hot dog, then threw it down in the sewer. But there was radioactive sludge down there… And it changed him into THE FEROCIOUS HOTDOG! He had big teeth and huge burning red eyes, with a fork and a knife on his back. He climbed finally out of the sewer. The man saw the hotdog that he had thrown down in the sewer just laying on the sidewalk. He said, “What the--? I thought I got rid of that hotdog!” Then he threw it in the garbage. But the hotdog jumped out of the trash bin and sliced the man in half with the knife that had been on his back! Then the hot dog ate his remains. He said, “This is for throwing me in the sewer!” Then he crossed his hands and said, “Mm.. Delicious… I can’t wait for my next victim!” Then the hotdog finds an old lady walking in the street at night. She heard something creeping up on her, but every time she looked back, she just saw a hotdog laying down! Then it got closer, then she squeaked, “Wasn’t that hotdog just laying over there?!” And then, the hotdog jumps out at her and tore her head off! And it ate her head, and said, in a high voice, “Yummy! Tasty!” And in a few nights, it ate almost all the people in New York! Then there were two boys walking in the street. They were PJ and Seamus and they saw the hotdog jump at them! But then PJ and Seamus walked out of the way, but Seamus kicked the hot dog and struck it with a knife! And PJ stabbed it with a fork while it was on the ground, and threw it down a hill! Then they moved to a new city in Alabama, but they could hear the hotdog’s voice as it said “I will have my revenge!” In a very scratchy, scary voice. The voice was coming from behind the hill…

Stories by Groups

Four people created each picture -- one drew the head and then folded down the paper; one drew the body, one drew the legs, and one drew the feet. Similarly, four people wrote each story, each person writing only a few lines.

Rhodedendrums and Connor's Puppet Show

"I got this idea because I wanted to do the puppet show at King Street Youth Center, and it's really fun to make puppet shows. The only character in my show is called Rhodedendrums, it's like she loves singing, she sings one song-- the ABCs, and a little of Patty Cake. She's a movie star and she has an mp3 player, she went down under her basement so that she won't get caught by the paparazzi, and she's kind of dumb. I had 100% fun on it! It was really really fun."

Puppet mania continues, just when you thought it was safe to eat lunch again...

For next week, we plan on creating some new puppets in the afternoon as well as building up and decorating our new stage. We will also start practicing some shows with our new puppets and thinking of ideas for stories or adventures. Some of which may (with luck) involve Mr. Winking Cow.

Puppets, puppets, puppets!

On Friday, Tim and Jeff made more puppets with the afterschoolers. Here's one of the shows they produced. There were some truly fantastic puppets made, including Shayleen's "perfect puppet," Dylan's hungry puppet, and Eric's alien monster puppet (who was visiting us from Neptune and eating our cows). Below is a super puppet who can "beat anyone up." Watch out!

Here are some photographs of the puppets that the kids created:
