April Vacation Camp

Some photos that Afterschoolers edited using Picnik during April Vacation Camp.
Semplise went this a theme that he developed last time:
Jasper played with the temperature of his picture:
Odreille wanted all things princess in her picture (I was most impressed with how she experimented with using the icons on the website to tell a story):
Nikkiah used color boost to make her glasses and mouth more orange:
Halima changed the color temperature of her picture and put a sticker on her face:
This Halima found the masks:
Maryan played with the size and angle of these stickers to make them look like tatoos:
Misky used the ever-popular flower frame:
Dylan was interested in distorting the colors of his picture:
When Ali edited this picture, he used so many stickers that he froze the computer:
When Muhudin was working on this picture, he wanted the picture to look old, so he changed it to black and white:

Popsicle Party!

King Street Afterschoolers, Teens, staff, and tutors gathered on Thursday, April 14th to celebrate the end of the winter session of Each One Reach One, King Street Center's tutoring program, and to say thank you to outgoing tutors.
It was a cold day on the playground, but spirits were high!
Flastine, below, cheers for her tutor, Allison.
Hassan has been paired with the same tutor for two years. Here he is, about to give his tutor her award:
Annie and Christel met throughout the winter session.
Allison, a student at Champlain College, worked with three tutees throughout the year.
Thank you so much to all our tutors from the 2010-2011 academic year!

Photo Editing

It's always fun to snap a quick photo of an afterschooler and then see what gets created. Here are a few from the other day.

In this one, Xavier wanted the picture to be a little spooky. Can you see the eyes?
In this picture, Semplise wanted to see what would happen if he hid his face behind ribbons.
No, we don't have any kids at King Street with tattoos on their faces! Hamdi resized stickers from picnik.com to make it look like she had tattoos all over her face.
Halima and Christel worked together on this photo using BeFunky Photo Effects.
I think Ali was eager for spring when he was working on his photo.
